I just finished the audiobook Bullshit Jobs: A Theory by David Graeber (library), and there were so many great nuggets. I liked this one in particular:
“Everyday we wake up and collectively make a world together; but which one of us, left to our own devices, would ever decide they wanted to make a world like this one?”
I let out a huge sigh when I heard this. It’s not the world I would make, yet here we are. When I think of the world I’d make, I see nature coalescing, neighbors sharing, and I see relationship to the land informing societal decisions.
